Sustainability
A packaging trend that is commonly spoken about is sustainable packaging. In 2020 the world witnessed the trial run of Asda's Sustainability shop. A new plastics reduction initiative ensured that consumers would not have to pay more for greener options. By providing products like cereals, tea bags, and coffee, the store is there to help consumers minimize, reuse, recycle, and cut down on single-use plastic.
Asda revealed that they plan to introduce this model in several other stores in 2021. In addition, they expect that other major UK supermarkets will follow in the sustainable footsteps of Asda for next year.
