Journey to ASR Group
I chose to study Chemical Engineering because of my passion for science and math, but I also wanted to pursue a business career. My first six years were spent in process and project engineering, which provided a solid foundation. I transitioned into technical sales, engaging with R&D, product development, marketing, and buyers. I completed my MBA in Finance with a minor in Marketing. From there, I was promoted to Product Management and was fortunate to be selected for an expatriate assignment in the UK after the acquisition of Pfizer’s Food Science group by Cultor Food Science (Helsinki). Over time, I progressed into sales and business leadership roles, including 12 years with Cargill’s Health & Nutrition group, before assuming my current position as Vice President of ASR Group. Tackling Industry Challenges At ASR Group, we continuously strive to offer new products that meet consumer and customer demands. In recent years, it has become more challenging to commercialize new ingredients, partly due to the caution of CPG companies facing cost-reduction pressures, as well as lengthy regulatory approval processes. Forming strategic alliances has become increasingly crucial to leverage resources and share investment risks. Partnerships that combine technology, scale-up expertise, and commitment from end-users help us shorten time-to-market and distribute costs more broadly. Developing Greener Ingredients ASR Group is deeply committed to sustainability and regenerative agriculture. We are fully integrated with our parent company and are the largest grower of Regenerative Organic Certified® sugar and ROC™ rice in the U.S. We stay in close contact with our customers to ensure we meet the growing demands of today’s marketplace, particularly in the area of greener, more sustainable nutrition options.Partnerships that combine technology, scale-up expertise, and commitment from end-users help us shorten time-to-market and distribute costs more broadly
